Wallowa Spruce Grouse Search, Wallowa County
When: 7 am – mid-afternoon, Sunday August 18, 2019
Where: This trip will be based in the Enterprise / Joseph, Oregon area. We will first bird forest trails in the Wallowa – Whitman National Forest. Following that, we’ll visit a variety of sites in the Wallowa Valley based on recent reports with emphasis on migrating shorebirds as available. Attendees will be notified of the exact meeting place location.
Birds and site conditions: We will search for Spruce Grouse recently located by our trip leader. We will be walking along maintained forest trails for up to two miles at 6000 ft elevation. A Northwest Forest Pass is required for trailhead parking.
Lodging in the Enterprise / Joseph area for this date is available but limited. Attendees should reserve rooms or arrange camping as soon as possible. Lodging suggestions will be provided to attendees.
How to register: This trip is limited to 10 Oregon Birding Association members. If you are not a current member, you can join online.
There is no fee for this field trip, however preregistration using this form is required.
